The Green Mile, Finder Star Michael Clarke Duncan Dead at 54

Michael Clarke Duncan, the muscular, Oscar-nominated actor best known for his role in The Green Mile, has died, according to The Associated Press. He was 54.

Duncan died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he had been hospitalized since July after suffering a heart attack, his fiancée, Apprentice alum Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, told the AP.

Born and raised in Chicago, Duncan moved to Los Angeles in the early-1990s. While looking for acting work, the 6-foot-4, 300-pound Duncan also worked as a bodyguard  for actors including Will Smith and LL Cool J.

After a few bit parts, Duncan was cast in Armageddonalongside Bruce Willis in 1998. He followed that up starring opposite Tom Hanks in The Green Mile, an adaptation of a Stephen King novel. Duncan earned a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his role as John Coffey, a sensitive and supernaturally gifted man on death row, and the film launched his career.
His many other film credits include The Whole Nine Yards, Daredevil, Planet of the Apes and Sin City. He most recently starred on the short-lived Fox drama The Finder. His other TV credits include roles on Chuck, Two and a Half Men and CSI: NY.
