Mega Buzz: Is Fish Mooney Going to Die on Gotham?

Ever since Jada Pinkett Smith let it slip that she might not be returning for Gotham's second season, many fans, including TVGuide.com user Erin, have wondered exactly how former mob boss Fish Mooney might find her way out of Gotham City. Well, it sounds like the Season 1 finale will answer that question -- and it may involve the Grim Reaper.

According to creator and executive producer Bruno Heller, the finale features "a big, boffo climax ending" that brings to a head the rivalries between Dons Maroni (David Zayas) and Falcone (John Doman), as well the ongoing beef between Fish and Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Gordon (Ben McKenzie). Naturally, blood will be spilled. "It wouldn't be a real showdown if everybody walked away from it, would it?" Heller tells TVGuide.com with a laugh. "Someone is not going to walk away from that."

Although Heller stopped short of naming Fish, when asked directly if Pinkett Smith was returning next season, he kept it simple. "In this universe, no one's life is certain and death is never final."
