In order to avoid her mother's wrath, Carol recruits her son Nate (Will Arnett) and estranged husband Tom (Beau Bridges) to cover up their failed relationships and present a happy façade. However, Nate begins to believe the lie and considers getting back together with his ex, Janice (Eliza Coupe).
At TV Guide Magazine's Hot List party on Monday Bridges raved, "Jerry's a scream! He came on and had everyone in stitches."
