Joan Rivers' Funeral Set for Sunday

Joan Rivers will be laid to rest on Sunday in New York City, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The service will be held at Temple Emanu-El. "It is a terribly sad day for all of us," Emanu-El  rabbi Joshua M. Davidson said in a statement to the magazine. "We mourn with her family, friends and all those millions to whom she brought laughter and joy."

The legendary comedienne died Thursday at the age of 81 at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital. Rivers was rushed to hospital a week prior after she stopped breathing during throat surgery on Aug. 28. She had been life support ever since.

"My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh," Rivers' daughter, Melissa, said in a statement Thursday. "Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon."
