How I Met Your Mother Boss Addresses Polarizing Finale on Twitter

Twitter turned into a Rage Convention Monday night, as longtime How I Met Your Mother fans reacted to the series finale, in which — one final spoiler warning! — we learn The Mother (Cristin Milioti) is dead, and Ted (Josh Radnor) has really just been asking for his kids' blessing to reunite with his former love Robin (Cobie Smulders).

HIMYM: Was it a legendary finale?

Co-creator Craig Thomas, apparently realizing that the reception for the final episode was a less than warm one, went on Twitter to express gratitude that fans were talking about the show at all.

Among his tweets were:

"Thank you all.  I mean it: Every possible reaction to the last 44 minutes...thank you all."

"We did a finale about life's twists and turns and that is not always what happens...but THANKS!"

"Seriously - no matter what you thought of tonight, THANK YOU...you were with us.  We love you."
