The Good Wife: Stockard Channing, Dreama Walker Returning, Office Alum to Visit

The Good Wife is in store for some motherly advice when the CBS legal drama returns this fall — whether she likes it or not!

Stockard Channing is set to reprise her role as Alicia's mother, Veronica, in the second episode of Season 5, CBS announced Thursday. The logline teases that Veronica "takes steps to support her daughter," but Veronica's idea of helping sometimes does more harm than good.

Scoop on The Good Wife and more returning fall shows

Channing is just one of several familiar faces returning in the Oct. 6 episode. John Benjamin Hickey (The Big C) will return as Chumhum's fearless leader Neil Gross, GCB's Miriam Shor will pop up again as journalist Mandy Post, and Dreama Walker (Apt. 23)will come back for the first time since Season 2. In the first season, she caused Eli (Alan Cumming) a lot of grief as Zach's older girlfriend Becca. Does this mean fans should keep a close eye on Becca's Florrick-bashing Upriser7 Twitter account as well?

Comedic actor Zach Woods, who starred as Gabe Lewis on The Office, will also guest-star in the episode as a character named Jeff Dellinger.

Channing, Hickey and Walker join an extensive list of returning Good Wife guest stars, including Carrie Preston, John Noble, America Ferrera and Gary Cole.

The new season of The Good Wife premieres on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9/8c on CBS.
