The cast and crew of ABC's hit show Ugly Betty has moved production to New York City and took the opportunity to celebrate their third season premiere in the city that never sleeps. Our own Gina DiNunno caught up with Betty herself, America Ferrera, on the red carpet and asked how Betty's life will change this season, and specifically, if she'll get the guts to move out of her family's home. America Ferrera thinks The Hills, 90210 and Gossip Girl teaches girls to be, well, mean girls. Us Weekly reports that Ferrera isn't happy with the way female relationships are depicted on popular TV shows. The star of ABC's Ugly Betty which constantly debates the themes of beauty on the inside vs. the outside told the October issue of Seventeen, "If you're watching The Hills or 90210, all the backstabbing shapes the way we act you go to school, and you think your job is to find a sworn enemy and be jealous of each other."In that case, what does Ferrera think about Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-star Blake Lively's hit show Gossip Girl? America Ferrera, Laurence Fishburne, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Hayden Panettiere, William Petersen and Vanessa Williams are the latest celebrities who will join in toasting television's finest at next month's ceremony."We are very pleased and honored to include these presenters to our already exciting list of talent for our telecast," Ken Ehrlich, executive producer, said. Superstars John Leguizamo, Jimmy Smits, Edward James Olmos, Lupe Ontiveros, Eva La Rue and Cesar Millan celebrated Latinos' work in TV and features at the 23rd Annual Imagen Awards Thursday night.La Misma Luna, a critically acclaimed film by Patricia Riggin, scored the biggest win of the night with five trophies, including Best Picture, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ugly Betty won Best TV Series, while Best Actor and Actress went to Carlos Mencia (Mind of Mencia) and Christina Milian (Snowglobe), respectively. Interestingly enough, America Ferrera, who was in Luna and currently starring in Ugly Betty, did not walk away with an acting award.Helen Hernandez, president of the Imagen Foundation, told the Reporter, "The increase of Latino representation across entertainment disciplines is truly indicative of the prevalent role we play in Hollywood, mainstream America and throughout the world."
