Emmys: TVGuide.com's Picks for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

Emmy season is here! For the next two weeks, voters will be checking off names and shows they think are worthy of getting a nomination come July 18. We at TVGuide.com have a few selections in mind ourselves. First up: our dream ballot for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Look back at last year's Emmys

Anna Chlumsky, Veep

It's tough playing the straight woman — especially to Julia Louis-Dreyfus — but the erstwhile Vada Sultenfuss has been an underrated standout as "trouble-shooter" Amy. Chlumsky's razor-sharp timing and epic facial expressions alone are award-worthy, but her back-and-forths with Jonah (Timothy Simons) take the cake and keep us coming back for more.

Elisha Cuthbert, Happy Endings
If you still think of Cuthbert as Jack Bauer's daughter, you need to rectify that ASAP. There have been few greater comedy revelations in recent years than Cuthbert. Between her pitch-perfect delivery and slapstick genius, she has turned Alex into TV's most delightfully dim character this side of Rose Nylund. But, just so you know, Alex isn't as dumb as she is.

Jane Krakowski, 30 Rock
Krakowski was unceremoniously dropped last year after three straight nominations, and if anyone deserves a return trip, it's her. The Tony winner has always shone as TGS' resident vapid, narcissistic blonde, but she truly made Jenna Maroney come alive in 30 Rock's final season — or more specifically, in its final minutes with her tearful, hysterical and tongue-twisting performance of "The Rural Juror." If there's any justice, like the Rural Juror, Emmy voters won't forget her.

Zosia Mamet, GirlsMamet, already the Season 1 breakout, kept the laughs coming in Season 2, as Shoshanna cluelessly, hilariously navigated a relationship with Ray (Alex Karpovsky). Lena Dunham, deservedly, gets all the kudos for the HBO hit, but it's high time another gal got some recognition too. Eden Sher, The Middle
Sher, who won the Critics' Choice Award last week, has crafted an endearingly awkward oddball in Sue Heck, who's as weird as they come and more relatable than any other, typically emo-ed out, TV teen. Like the eternally optimistic Sue herself, we'll keep hoping that voters will one day recognize Sher's brilliance.Jessica Walter, Arrested DevelopmentWalter hasn't missed a beat seven years later, making Lucille wonderfully boozy and intoxicating (no pun intended) as ever. Lucille only had one character-centric episode in the anthologized Netflix season, but it served as a wacky showcase for Walter (she sings, dances and is the Queen B of the Jade Dragon Triads!). And lest we forget, she gave new meaning to mouth-to-mouth.Who do you hope is nominated?
