Some furry red monsters have all the luck! Ellen Pompeo is the latest big-name celeb to make a playdate with Elmo, Sesame Street's forever 3-and-a-half-year-old Muppet. The Grey's Anatomy doc shows her silly side as she demonstrates habits that help keep kids shipshape.
"She knows a lot about being healthy," says Elmo — aka actor Kevin Clash, who spoke to TV Guide Magazine in character, of course — with his trademark giggle. "We brush our teeth, she eats an apple, and she jogs...with pumps on. It was cool!"
And when the cameras weren't rolling, the two shared lots of hugs and chatted about Pompeo's 1-year-old daughter, Stella Luna, who wasn't on hand — being only 6 months old at the time of filming — to watch mommy yuk it up with every preschooler's favorite little guy.
Now Pompeo can't wait to see Stella's reaction to the segment. "She loves Elmo so much," says Pompeo. "She has a DVD we bought her for the plane. I have to hide it because she grabs it every day and wants to watch it. The minute she hears the music, she starts clapping. I'm superexcited to get to see how it registers when she sees me with Elmo." And Pompeo, for her part, was tickled to be hanging with the puppet. "He's very charming. I have to admit I kind of have a crush on Elmo."
We have to ask: Would Elmo consider returning the favor and guest starring on Grey's? "Elmo hopes so. Elmo would love to see Miss Ellen again."
