True BloodalumLucy Griffiths has exited NBC's upcoming comic book drama Constantine, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on the popular comic book series Hellblazer, Constantine stars Matt Ryan (Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior) as the titular demon hunter and master of the occult. He struggles with his faith as he is haunted by the sins of his past. However, he is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.
Emmy nods: Snubs and surprises
Griffithswas set to play leading lady Liv, who teams up with Constantine after she's marked for death by a demon. The role will not be recast. Instead, the show will introduce Zed, Constantine's right-hand woman. The character, who is featured in the Hellblazer comic books, has not yet been cast.
Batman Begins' David Goyer will executive-produce the drama with writer Daniel Cerone (Dexter). Harold Perrineau and Charles Halford also star.
Constantine will premiere Friday, Oct. 24 at 10/9c on NBC.
