Freshman drama Chicago Fire has been on fire in the ratings, and NBC is apparently taking notice.
According to Deadline, the network is considering creating a spin-off series, this time centered on police instead of firefighters. The new show would also take place in Chicago, where the original series is set and is filmed.
Fall TV 2013 Schedule: What's renewed? What's canceled?
The new project would launch as a planted spin-off, meaning within an episode of Chicago Fire, possibly the series' Season 1 finale. It is still unclear which cast members may move to the spin-off. Homicide's Jon Seda currently recurs as Chicago Police Department Detective Antonio Dawson.
Chicago Fire executive producer Dick Wolf is obviously no stranger to spin-offs, having launched Law & Order spin-offs Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and the short-lived Law & Order: Trial by Jury and Law & Order: Los Angeles.
Would you watch a Chicago Fire spin-off?
