When ABC premieres its new Charlie's Angels tomorrow night, the voice of Charlie will sound awfully familiar to fans of another female-driven ABC adventure series.

Victor Garber, who starred opposite Jennifer Garner as Alias' Jack Bristow from 2001-2006, will take over the off-camera big boss role previously played by John Forsythe on the original 1976- 1981 series and its big screen reboots in 2000 and 2003.

It had previously been announced that Hart to Hart veteran Robert Wagner — who owns a stake in the Angels franchise via an early partnership with veteran producers Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg — would be assuming the role, but his deal fell through.

As of press time, Garber's deal was still being negotiated and ABC refused to comment. Producers have said there will be a back story mythology unfolding involving the mysterious Charlie, with speculation brewing that he may have fathered a former angel killed in the line of duty who'd had a romance with the Bosley character now played by Ramon Rodriguez. But we'll have to tune in and see if that early story suggestion will indeed play out.
