Thomas Lennon has been tapped to star opposite Matthew Perry in CBS' The Odd Couplereboot, TVGuide.com has learned.

The comedy is a modern-day take on Neil Simon's Broadway 1965 play about polar opposite roommates. The play went on to become a 1968 movie starring Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon, and later, a TV show starring Jack Klugman and Tony Randall. The series ran from 1970 to 1975 on ABC, but was produced by CBS Television Distribution.

In this incarnation, Perry will play the easygoing Oscar Madison, while Lennon will play Felix Ungar, a maddening neat freak and an uxorious man whose compulsion to live in a precisely ordered, meticulously perfect environment alienates everyone in his life.

Perry will co-write and executive-produce the comedy, which is also being written by Joe Keenan. Elementaryproducers Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman, and Two and a Half Men executive producers Eric and Kim Tannenbaum will also executive-produce. Sarah Baker will also star.

Lennon's casting marks a reunion for him and Perry, who co-starred in the film 17 Again. Lennon, whose credits include Reno 911and Sean Saves the World, also had a short stint on Friends in the Las Vegas episodes.
