Basaraba, who starred as a police officer on both Steven Bochco's Brooklyn Southand NBC's short-lived Boomtown, will play Jimmy, a former partner of Tom Selleck's Commissioner Frank Reagan. As we first reported, Jimmy once saved Frank's life and vice versa. When the two reconnect, Jimmy hopes to capitalize on the friendship and asks Commissioner Reagan for a promotion to commander. Things get heated, however, when Frank suspects Jimmy has cooked the books and skewed crime statistics in his division.

Besides Brooklyn South and Boomtown, Basaraba has appeared on Judging Amy, Cold Caseand Nip/Tuck. He also appeared in the 2006 live-action version of Charlotte's Weband is set to lend his voice to the upcoming Smurfsfilm.
Basaraba, 51, has worked with Selleck before in the 2006 TV movie, Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise. The role also reunites Basaraba with Blue Bloods cast member Donnie Wahlberg, who also starred on Boomtown.Basaraba's episode will air Friday, Dec. 3 at 10/9c on CBS.
