Gary Basaraba will be putting on a cop's uniform once again for a guest spot on Blue Bloods, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

Basaraba, who starred as a police officer on both Steven Bochco's Brooklyn South and NBC's short-lived Boomtown, will play Jimmy, a former partner of Tom Selleck's Commissioner Frank Reagan. As we first reported, Jimmy once saved Frank's life and vice versa.

Broadcast networks aren't the only ones with a bad case of the Mondays. On the heels of the news that CBS has canceled its freshman medical drama, Three Rivers, TNT announced the cancellation of Raising the Bar.
CBS pulls the plug on Three Rivers
The legal drama, starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, kicked off big in 2008, drawing in 7.7 million viewers. The second-season premiere, however, earned only 3.8 million viewers.

And many more jeers to Mr. Bochco himself for hiring third-graders to rewrite discarded Hill Street Blues episodes to bring them into the late '80s. That he is misusing such a talented cast so badly, and obviously not allowing any barbers on the set, is terribly sad. I hope this show goes swiftly into that dark night.
