Amanda Bynes' Increasingly Erratic Behavior: A Timeline

On Tuesday, Amanda Bynes will be in court to face charges in her bong-throwing arrest from May. It's a far cry from where the former Nickelodeon star was just six years ago, when her career seemed full of promise after charming turns in She's the Man, Hairspray and Sydney White.But in recent years — or more specifically, in the past 12 months — the 27-year-old's behavior has gone from odd to bizarre to downright alarming at times between her legal woes, strange appearances and crazy tweets. Here's a timeline:

On Tuesday, Amanda Bynes will be in court to face charges in her bong-throwing arrest from May. It's a far cry from where the former Nickelodeon star was just six years ago, when her career seemed full of promise after charming turns in She's the Man, Hairspray and Sydney White.
But in recent years — or more specifically, in the past 12 months — the 27-year-old's behavior has gone from odd to bizarre to downright alarming at times between her legal woes, strange appearances and crazy tweets. Here's a timeline:

June 20, 2010: Bynes tweets that she's retiring from acting because she doesn't love it anymore, only to unretire a month later. Her film Easy A opens in September. (She hasn't appeared onscreen since.)Sept. 10, 2010: Bynes quits Twitter, but rejoins four months later and tweets out selfies and skin-baring photos.March 7, 2012: Bynes is pulled over in L.A. for talking on the phone while driving. She flees the scene before the officer can finish writing up her ticket, but she later signs it at the station.April 6, 2012: The actress is arrested on suspicion of DUI after she side-swipes a police car in West Hollywood, Calif. Bynes reportedly refuses to take a Breathalyzer or drug test at the scene and is released on $5,000 bail. April 10, 1012: Bynes is accused of hit-and-run on the freeway in L.A. She denies being involved, tweeting, "I can't help but laugh at all of you writing fake stories about me. I was not in any hit and runs. I don't drink so the DUI is false."May 5, 2012: Bynes allegedly side-swipes a man's car in L.A. while trying to pass him, but avoids arrest and a citation. Instead, police take a traffic collision report.June 5, 2012: After being charged with DUI for her April 6 arrest, Bynes, who pleads not guilty, tweets to President Barack Obama for help: "Hey @BarackObama... I don't drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end." Aug. 4, 2012: Bynes is accused of a second hit-and-run by a woman who claims the star rear-ended her on L.A.'s Ventura Boulevard. According to the woman, Bynes did not think there was significant damage and drove off without exchanging insurance information. Days later, Bynes clears out her Twitter account.

The biggest celeb feuds

Aug. 20, 2012: Bynes is involved in yet another vehicular mishap, but this time, her car is rear-ended. Police did not ticket anyone after Bynes and the other driver exchange information. Sept. 4, 2012: Bynes is charged with two counts of misdemeanor hit-and-runs in connection to the April and August incidents; she pleads not guilty. Two days later, the California DMV suspends Bynes' license due to outstanding tickets unrelated to her recent legal troubles.Sept. 10, 2012: Bynes is pulled over for driving without her headlights on despite her license being suspended, but is only given a verbal warning before being released. Days later, a judge orders her not to drive.Sept. 16, 2012: The actress does not heed the order, and gets pulled over and cited for driving with a suspended license. Police also impound her car. Five days later, she is charged with driving with a suspended license, and is reportedly dropped by her lawyer, publicist and agent. Dec. 12, 2012: A judge dismisses the hit-and-run charges after Bynes reaches settlements with the victims. Jan. 16, 2013: Bynes starts a now-defunct Tumblr and posts a photo of herself with a left cheek piercing. In March, she shows off both pierced cheeks.March 17, 2013: After resuming tweeting on a regular basis in January, Bynes starts sending out bizarre, head-scratching messages, including claiming that she created "ILY" and "LOL."

March 21, 2013:
Bynes tweets that she wants Drake to murder her vagina. April 4, 2013: As her behavior grows more erratic, Bynes tweets that someone has been posing as her in New York, threatens to sue media outlets that claim she's mentally unstable, and says that she has an eating disorder so she has "a hard time staying thin."April 25, 2013: Bynes shaves half her head.May 1, 2013: Bynes tweets topless photos of herself and gets into a brief Twitter feud with Jenny McCarthy after she mistakenly tweets that police are at Bynes' apartment. (Publicist Jonathan Jaxson had tweeted that he had called police to check on the actress because "she is soooo messed up on drugs," but it later turned out that police never went over.) Bynes lashes out at McCarthy, calling her "ugly" and saying that she looks "80 compared to me." After McCarthy apologizes, Bynes tweets, "thanks! I'm sorry I offended you! You're beautiful! I was lying! I'll delete our tweets!"

May 6, 2013: In a Twitter rant, Bynes says that she's had a nose job to remove skin in between her eyes and is irked that magazines continue to use old photos of her. May 9, 2013: Bynes pleads no contest to driving with a suspended license and is sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay a fine of $300. May 23, 2013: Nearly a week after she gets rejected from a flight for trying to use Google as a form of identification, Bynes is arrested after police said she threw a bong out of her Manhattan apartment window. According to police, a building official called the cops after spotting the star in the lobby talking to herself and with a joint. When law enforcement arrived at her apartment and spotted a bong, Bynes threw the water pipe out the window, police said. Bynes, who faces charges of unlawful possession of marijuana, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence, is released on her own recognizance after appearing in court the following morning in a platinum blonde wig.May 25, 2013: Bynes accuses her arresting officer of sexual harassment, claiming that he "slapped my vagina," and says she plans to sue the NYPD and become a rapper. After conducting an investigation, police say there was no evidence of sexual harassment, after which Bynes tweets that her lawyer is getting her case dropped. May 26, 2013: Unprovoked, Bynes goes after Rihanna on Twitter, writing: "Chris Brown beat you because you're not pretty enough. No one wants to be your lover so you call everyone and their mother that I almost named my new dog Rihanna." Rihanna fires back: "Ya see what happens when they cancel intervention?" Bynes later deletes her tweets and sends out a nicer message to the singer: "This is a mocked up image I found on the Internet that I LOVE! I love @rihanna! She's such a beauty!"June 19, 2013: After flip-flopping on Drake's looks, Bynes, in a series of tweets, says that she was born with a birth defect — webbing in between her eyes — with which she as "suffered" for 27 years, will be having plastic surgery on her nose, and sings the praises of going under the knife. "There's a surgery for everything that's wrong with you!" she writes. Three days later, she says she's had the surgery.July 8, 2013: Bynes tweets that Obama and Michelle Obama are ugly.July 9, 2013: Bynes arrives for her court date wearing black sweatpants, sunglasses and a sleek blue wig, looking much more put together than at her arraignment. Bynes' hearing is postponed until Sept. 26. Though Bynes remained silent in court, on Twitter the actress shares plans for more surgeries. Bynes claims her nose is broken, hindering her ability to breathe and making it so the bone under her eyes protrudes.July 22, 2013: Bynes was hospitalized on a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold after she started a small fire in someone's driveway in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The night before, Bynes was involved in an altercation with a cab driver after she was denied entry into a retirement community, which called her a cab. She was kicked out of the cab after saying that she didn't have money and police were subsequently called. The three-day hold was extended to two weeks to allow doctors to properly diagnose her. Meanwhile, her parents filed for temporary conservatorship of Bynes, the ruling for which was delayed until Aug. 9.

Aug. 9, 2013: Bynes' doctors extend her psychiatric hold for another 30 days. A judge can only grant such an order if the patient is "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder."Bynes' mother Lynn is also granted conservatorship, givng her the power to decide where Bynes lives and control of her $3 million fortune.

Sept. 30, 2013 Upon doctors' recommendation, Bynes was transferred from UCLA Medical Center to receive "specialized treatment in a private facility outside of Los Angeles."
December 2013-June 2014 Bynes' fortunes appeared to be on the upswing. After being released from treatment to live with her parents, she started to get her life in order. She pleaded no contest in her initial DUI case stemming from 2012, and although she was put on three years of probation, she avoided jail time. In the spring she resurfaced on Twitter with a very innocuous tweet that announced she was studying at FIDM, the Fashion Institute for Design & Merchandising. Finally, that summer, her bong-throwing case was thrown out because Bynes had obeyed judge's orders to attend counseling twice a week and stay out of legal trouble.
Sept. 28, 2014 Bynes went back to her erratic behavior when she stopped her car in the middle of a Los Angeles intersection, and the California Highway Patrol determined that she was driving under the influence of a drug and booked her for her second DUI.
Oct. 10, 2014 After a series of bizarre tweets during which she accused her father of sexual molestation and then later recanted and blamed the posts on a microchip implanted in her brain, Bynes was placed in an involuntary psychiatric hold by her parents and taken to a Pasadena hospital where she will be held a minimum of 72 hours.
Oct. 30, 2014 Bynes was released from the hospital days after a judge extended her psychiatric hold to a month. Hours later, she was reportedly seen talking to herself and took to Twitter the next day to blast her family, including resurrecting the claims against her father, whom she called a sexual predator. Bynes was due in court on Oct. 31 to regain control of her finances from her mother, who had been granted conservatorship again.
