As it has done all season, Steve McQueen's slavery drama won few awards during the night — this time just three — but prevailed with the top honor. 12 Years, whose producers include Brad Pitt, is the first film directed by a black filmmaker to win. 12 Years also won adapted screenplay and supporting actress for Lupita Nyong'o, who became the 16th actor and ninth in the supporting actress category to win for their film debut.Photos: See all the Oscar red carpet arrivals
Cate Blanchett completed her awards sweep, taking Best Actress for Blue Jasmine. She is the sixth person to win both Best Actress and Best Supporting actress after Helen Hayes, Ingrid Bergman, Maggie Smith, Meryl Streep and Jessica Lange.
Frozen grabbed animated feature honors and original song for "Let It Go." Robert Lopez, who co-wrote the tune with his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez, became the 12th person to EGOT — win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony — with the victory.
Other winners include Spike Jonze(Her) for original screenplay and 20 Feet From Stardom for documentary.
