Naturalist and explorer Alexander Von Humboldt traveled to South America with naturalist Aime Bonpland in 1799, exploring the Venezuelan coast and the areas of Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, and Colombia. In Ten Who Dared: Alexander Von Humboldt, dramatizations depict his work charting the Orinoco and Amazon Rivers. The two scientists amassed a large collection of plant specimens during their five years of discovery and exploration. Other studies included those of volcanoes, climate, and ocean currents. Later, Von Humboldt ventured to the Ural Mountains, extending his travels to Siberia.
