Woody Allen Feels "Overwhelming Sadness" About Molestation Allegations, Lawyer Says

Woody Allen's lawyer denied allegations that the writer-director sexually abused his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, when he appeared on the Today show Tuesday.

The sit-down marked the first interview with anyone from Allen's camp since Farrow opened up about the allegations in an open letter published by The New York Times on Saturday.

"[Allen's] reaction is one of overwhelming sadness because of what has happened to Dylan," Elkan Abramowitzsaid Tuesday. "She was a pawn in a huge fight between him and Mia Farrow years ago. The idea that [Dylan] was molested was implanted by her mother, and that memory is never going to go away." 

In her open letter, Dylan, 28, detailed the sexual abuse she allegedly suffered as a child by Allen. He was first accused of the abuse in 1992, but was never prosecuted. In the letter, Dylan says she's speaking out now to encourage others to tell the truth and stop living in fear.

Shortly after the Today interview, Mia Farrow tweeted support for her daughter. "I love my daughter. I will always protect her. A lot of ugliness is going to be aimed at me. But this is not about me, it's about her truth," she wrote.
