Bye-bye, Michael Scott. Hello, Deangelo Vickers!

Big-screen funnyman Will Ferrell drops by The Office tonight for the first of four guest appearances to help send off Steve Carell's Michael Scott. "It was initially Will's idea to do something on the show as a way to celebrate Steve's last year," says executive producer Paul Lieberstein, who also plays Toby. "Then we asked him to do more than he probably planned."

It's Sabre CEO Jo Bennett (Kathy Bates) who hires Deangelo as Michael's replacement. "He's perfectly placed at a mid-level paper company in Scranton," says Lieberstein. "Deangelo's not the brightest guy all the time, but he's not an idiot. Well, at times he can show a little idiocy."

Sounds like he's the right man for the job, but not everyone at Dunder Mifflin is happy about his arrival. "There is both excitement and trepidation," says Lieberstein. "Michael and Deangelo hit it off pretty well at first, but Dwight struggles with it, trying to figure out how he can still be manager."

Don't give up yet, Dwight. Deangelo will also be history by the time the show's hourlong season finale airs May 19. "Something will happen," Lieberstein teases. "But I'm not going to tell you what."
