Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy Houston, has signed a deal to write a book about her late daughter's life, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The currently untitled work is described as Whitney's "unabridged and unbelievable story," and will cover such topics as her tumultuous marriage to Bobby Brown and Houston's drug use. The book is set to be released by HarperCollins in February 2013.

"When I lost my daughter Nippy [her nickname for Whitney], the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman," Cissy Houston said in a statement. "In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney. We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter's true story."

A portion of the proceeds from the book will go to Whitney's childhood church, New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J., which also hosted her star-studded funeral in February.

Houston passed away suddenly at the age of 48 in February. Her death was later ruled to be caused by an accidental drowning, but cocaine use and heart disease were also contributing factors, according to the L.A. County Coroner. Her last film, Sparkle, hits theaters Aug. 17.
