Now that her American Idol run has come to an end, Janelle Arthur is facing a tough decision: what to name her new guitar.
She's narrowed her choices down to three — Dolly, Goldie and Pearl — but was still undecided when TVGuide.com spoke to her days after her elimination.
Have the American Idol judges already decided this year's winner?
Arthur was the first girl sent home from Idol this season, but says she wasn't a bit surprised. "Everyone thought they would use the save, and I knew they would use the save but I didn't think they'd use it on me," Arthur told TVGuide.com days after her elimination. "Just because of the previous weeks, just from their comments. Not from how I felt about my performances."
In fact, Arthur says she felt her strongest performance of the whole competition was actually her final one (aside from her Save Me song) — a cover of Dolly Parton's "Dumb Blonde." But still, she was so convinced that she was going home that she predicted her own fate to fellow contestant Candice Glover backstage before the show.
"I said, 'Candice, I'm going home tonight. And they're not gonna save me,'" Arthur recalled. "I was like, 'I love y'all so much.' ... I just knew that if it was my last time standing with them, I just wanted them to know that I loved them."
