What's Tina Fey's philosophy when it comes to encouraging her daughters to pursue their career goals? "So far it seems to be about me holding them back," the 30 Rock star tells People.

TV Scorecard: What's renewed? What's canceled?

With her daughter Alice in particular, Fey said she's trying to discourage her from pursuing a career in acting — even though the 7-year-old once made a cameo as a young Liz Lemon in an episode of 30 Rock. Alice finds her mother's "exciting life" in show business appealing and is especially inspired by young Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis, who's just two years her senior.

"Let it go. Step away," Fey said she told Alice during an Oscar viewing party at their house. "I made her write out a poll so everyone who came to our Oscar party had to [vote] 'Should Alice be allowed to be in movies?' And I was the only person that said 'No.' I was like 'Unfortunately for you, I am the only vote that counts.'"
