Tig Notaro is one of the funniest comedians working right now. She's also one of the most courageous, as evidenced Thursday night when she performed part of her stand-up set topless.

Notaro, who memorably revealed she had breast cancer during a 2012 set, was telling a story at the New York Comedy Festival on Thursday about receiving a pat-down at an airport and having the security agent question if she was in the correct line, The New Yorker reports. "She didn't feel any boobs, and she didn't feel a bra," Notaro said. "She looked up at my face, really drank it in. Apparently that didn't help."

"I knew all I had to do was talk," she went on. "She'd hear my voice and she would know that I'm female. But I really didn't want to help her."

After Notaro finished the story, she unbuttoned her sports jacket, prompting a catcall from the back of the theater. "Did you not hear the story I was just telling?" Notaro asked.

"You know, it's funny," the comedian said. "I was going to do this show with my shirt off, anyway. I'm about one more 'Wooo' away from going topless." After hearing several more shouts, Notaro ripped open her button-down shirt, revealing the scars she received from undergoing a double mastectomy.

Notaro then continued the remaining 20 or so minutes of her set, rarely alluding to the fact that she was literally baring all. At the end of the set, she received a well-deserved standing ovation, buttoned back up and jumped off the stage into the crowd.

What do you think of Notaro's bold performance decision?
