Kevin's Girlfriend Will Be a Big Part of This Is Us Season 3

Kevin's new girlfriend is here to stay. Melanie Liburd, who guest-starred in This Is Us' Season 2 finale as Kevin Pearson's (Justin Hartley) girlfriend Zoe, has been promoted to series regular for Season 3, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Liburd first appeared in the flash-forward that ended Season 2 alongside Hartley as their characters traveled together in Vietnam as Kevin sought to learn about his father's experiences during the Vietnam War. Zoe is the cousin of Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson), who is married to Kevin's brother Randall (Sterling K. Brown). Kevin and Zoe met while Zoe was working as the photographer at Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby's (Chris Sullivan) wedding, and apparently they really hit it off!

"When we come back, we're going to be embarking on a new chapter with them sort of discovering their romance, and their relationship, and figuring out what they are. We can expect to see her for awhile," This Is Us executive producer Isaac Berger told The Hollywood Reporter after the season 2 finale.

As for that Vietnam trip, "Some things are going to happen and he's going to get some information that he didn't realize and it'll go from there," Hartley told TV Guide.

This Is Us Season 3 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 9/8c on NBC.
