Nobody puts Beverly in a corner

The Goldbergs are about to have the time of their lives.

The ABC comedy will pay homage to Dirty Dancing later this season, TVGuide.com has learned.

"Dirty Dancing is a huge '80s cultural touchstone -- the music, the memorable lines, and of course, Swayze. No one loved it more than my mom," creator Adam F. Goldberg said in a statement. "I'll always remember how she dragged me to see it in the theaters several times and then bought it on video. I knew this was our big movie to explore this season when all of the writers on the show also had their very own Dirty Dancing memories from years ago. It really is a gem of the '80s and it's so exciting to bring it to life with my amazing cast."

The episode will air in the spring. No further details were released, but nobody puts Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) in a corner, obviously.

This is The Goldbergs' third annual '80s movie tribute episode, following The Goonies in Season 1 and Ferris Bueller's Day Off last season. Goldberg had his eye on Dirty Dancing this year from the start and told TVGuide.com earlier this season that he was awaiting clearance rights. (Surely, ABC's upcoming Dirty Dancing remake helped.)

"There are certain movies that we'd love to do and [Dirty Dancing] is one of them," he said. "Hopefully as the show continues and people find it and know that it's all done out of love that they'll be more willing to give us these things. ... I love doing it. It's a huge undertaking, but it's great for the show."

What do you want to see in the tribute? Who will jump majestically into whose arms? Who will carry a watermelon?

The Goldbergs airs Wednesdays at 8:30/7:30c on ABC.
