The Fosters will be returning for a Season 4, ABC Family announced Monday.

The family drama will pick up its third season in January as Callie (Maia Mitchell) has been finally adopted by Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) - making her first love Brandon (David Lambert) officially her new brother. Now they'll have a full new season to figure out where the two lovebirds stand in the soulmates or siblings debate.

Aside from the Brandon and Callie revolving drama, The Fosters has broken a lot of ground in telling underrepresented stories on their show. Callie became close friends with a transgender teen in her group home long before Caitlyn Jenner came out to Diane Sawyer. Callie's baby brother Jude (Hayden Byerly) began exploring his sexuality at age 13, pioneering the youngest gay story line on prime-time television.

"We have so many more stories to tell about The Fosters family - these incredible characters have come into our lives and touched so many - from Stef and Lena's wedding to the adoptions of Callie and Jude." says Karey Burke, ABC Family's Executive Vice President, of Programming and Development. "We look forward to more of the groundbreaking storytelling from this creative team."

The Fosters Season 3 resumes Jan. 25 at 8/7c on ABC Family, when the network becomes Freeform. Season 4 will premiere later in 2016.
