Susan Sarandon Discusses Split from Tim Robbins, Hints at New Relationship

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have kept relatively quiet about the end of their 23-year relationship, but the actress is now opening up about what may have been the catalyst.

The Oscar-winning actress recalls an emotional change of heart she had while performing in Exit the King on Broadway during the spring of 2009, several months before she and Robbins announced their breakup. "You can't do a meditation on death and stay in a situation that's not authentic," she told AARP magazine. "It made me examine where I was in my union and in my life, and to have discussions about making changes."

Since their split, Sarandon has been linked to Jonathan Bricklin, 36, who shares ownership of her ping pong franchise SPiN. When asked about their relationship, Sarandon said, "Jonathan and I collaborate on different things. That means a lot of things." Asked directly if that meant romance, she replied, "Yeah, I think so."

Sarandon, 67, and Robbins, 55, were never married, but were one of the most enduring couples in the entertainment industry. The two Oscar winners — she for Dead Man Walking and he for Mystic River — have two children together, Jack and Miles. The pair met on the set of the 1988 baseball classic Bull Durham, in what proved to be Robbins' breakthrough role. Sarandon was previously married to Chris Sarandon and has a daughter, Californication actress Eva Amurri, from her relationship with director Franco Amurri.
