Suge Knight Charged with Murder in Hit-and-Run Case

Rap mogul Suge Knight, co-founder of Death Row Records, has been charged with murder and attempted murder stemming from an incident in which prosecutors allege Knight ran over a pair of men in Los Angeles on Thursday, Reuters reports.

Knight, 49, turned himself in to authorities on Friday after Terry Carter, a friend of Knight's, died in a fast-food restaurant parking lot in Compton after being hit with Knight's Ford F-150 Raptor truck. Apparently, the two men came to blows while Knight was in his truck, and Knight threw the vehicle in reverse, striking Carter. Knight then allegedly drove forward over Carter's body and struck another man before driving off. The other victim sustained minor injuries.

Knight's attorney claims Knight accidentally struck the men with his car while attempting to flee the confrontation out of fear.

In addition to the murder and attempted murder charges, Knight also faces two counts of felony hit-and-run. If convicted, Knight could face life in prison.

Earlier Monday, a Los Angeles County bail commissioner revoked Knight's bail request after sheriff's argued he was a risk for flight and for intimidating witnesses of the incident.

Knight has lived up to the gangster reputation that Death Row was built on, with several run-ins with the law and rivals. Last year, Knight was shot at a pre-party hosted by Chris Brown for the MTV Video Music Awards, and was also awaiting trial for the theft of a camera from a female photographer.
