It's party time in Pawnee, Ind.

Party Down star Adam Scott is joining the cast of Parks and Recreation, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Scott will make his first appearance in this season's last two episodes and return for Season 3 as a series regular. NBC renewed the Thursday night comedy in January.

The 36-year-old actor will play a love interest for parks and rec department head Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), according to Variety. "Adam is one of the funniest and most versatile performers around," series executive producer Michael Schur told the trade paper. "When we designed the character he is going to play, we used him as the dream scenario of who we could get."

However, Scott's new gig might be bad news for Party Down fans. If the Starz comedy is renewed, he would only be able to return for three episodes at the most, Variety reported. Scott plays waiter and aspiring actor Henry Pollard on the series, which returns for its second season April 23.

Report: Rob Lowe in talks to join Parks and Recreation

Scott was most recently seen in the romantic comedy Leap Year and is nominated for best actor at Saturday's Independent Spirit Awards for The Vicious Kind.

The news is just Parks and Recreation's latest coup, following reports that Rob Lowe had snagged a recurring role on the series, also extending into next season.
