American Idolcontinued its Tuesday night dominance, while NBC's newcomer Parenthoodand ABC's Lostboth showed improvement with CBS airing repeats.

A two-hour Idol drew 23.8 million viewers, winning the night for Fox in total viewers and adults 18-to-49, according to Nielsen overnight estimates. Idol was up slightly in the demo versus last week.

NBC benefited the most from CBS' night off, taking second place overall and winning the 10/9c time slot with Parenthood (7.1 million viewers). The show was up 17 percent compared to its last new episode. Parenthood's lead-in, The Biggest Loser,was also up, averaging 8 million viewers over two hours.

ABC's Lost rose just a tick in the demo, as its mythology-heavy (and six-minutes-longer-than-usual) episode pulled in 7.1 million viewers. The network took third place for the night, also airing a Lost repeat (4.2 million viewers) at 8/7c and a Vclip show (5.1 million) at 10/9c.

CBS' repeats of NCIS (12.8 million viewers), NCIS: Los Angeles (11.2 million), and The Good Wife(8 million viewers) landed the network in fourth place for the night. The CW's 90210and Melrose Placedrew 1.6 million viewers and 1 million viewers, respectively.
