Once Upon a Time in Wonderland takes Alice down the rabbit hole again

TVGuide.com caught up with Lowe to find out how this Alice is different and how far she'll go to bring her love back:

How is this Alice different from the one we've grown up hearing about in the fairy tale?
Sophie Lowe:
She's definitely not the little girl that everyone is used to, but she still has that innocence in her heart. She's been through a lot since returning from Wonderland. At the start of the show, we see that she's heartbroken and lost all hope. You quickly find out that's not really her. She's actually become this strong woman because of all her adventures. She's fallen in love, and that has really completed her as a person. She understands why she's experiencing all these weird things. She found her reason and that's Cyrus. That has completely taken over her life. She's going to stop at nothing to get him back because she's so in love and nothing else matters to her.

Will we see flashbacks of how Alice became this badass character?
Lowe:
Through flashbacks you'll discover how she's gotten all these skills. Also, she's been in Wonderland for so long, so she had to defend herself and figure out for herself how she can survive in Wonderland. The way she fights, it's kind of with pressure points because she's not that super strong. She knows exactly where to hit on your body where it hurts the most.

How far will Alice go to save Cyrus?
Lowe:
She'll go to the end of the world to find Cyrus. It's the first person she's felt completely comfortable with. She doesn't have to prove anything to him. He just loves her for who she is. She's never experienced that before. There's a strong bond between them. Cyrus has been trapped in this bottle, and she's the first person that understands what it feels like to be trapped in a place that they don't want to be. That's how they connect. She'll do anything and go to the end of the world to fight to get him back.

Can Once Upon a Time in Wonderland save ABC's 8/7c timeslot on Thursdays?

Will we actually see the catalyst for her wanting to return to Wonderland in the first place?
Lowe:
Yes, through flashbacks you'll see why she returned to Wonderland and how important it is for her for her father to believe her. [But] she learns from Cyrus that you don't have to prove things to the people that are supposed to love you. They're just supposed to believe you. There's so much to see!

We know from the novel what it was like for Alice to go up against the Queen of Hearts, but how is it different now going up against the Red Queen and Jafar?
Lowe:
I feel like they're even more powerful  because there are two of them. They've come together against Alice and they've got this very evil, dark magic that Alice really can't stand up against. The thing she has that no one else does is wishes. They are protecting her at the moment.

Talk about her relationship with the Knave (Michael Socha). Can she really trust him?
Lowe:
This next episode is definitely about trust. She knows she can't trust him, but she does because she knows that his heart is pure. He is a sweet person underneath all his craziness. They both have lost something in their lives. Alice got his heart back, so he really respects her. They've got this strong bbond because of all the things they've been through together. We'll get to see what they've been through and what comes next. They're friends, which I think is really cool to see a female and male be good friends these days on television without a romantic thing. I have lots of guy friends, and I get along with guys so well. It's great to be able to get that on the TV.

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC.
