Pilot Season: Tony Shalhoub, Allison Janney Going to NBC's Friday Night Dinner

The Office's Greg Daniels adapting another British comedy

An adaptation of the British series, Friday Night Dinner chronicles the Shabbat dinners of a traditional Jewish family, who aren't necessarily devout. The West Wingalum Janney will play Barbara, who is beginning to succumb to the immaturity of her all-male family. Monk's Shalhoub will portray Gene, a hard-of-hearing retired food chemist who's socially inept. 

Directed by Ken Kwapis, the pilot will be executive-produced by Daniels and Howard Klein.

The British version airs on BBC America and was renewed for a second season earlier this year.
