CBS Cancels Murphy Brown, Fam and 2 More Shows

We kind of assumed this was going to happen, but Murphy Brown has officially been canceled at CBS, proving that not all revivals make for ratings gold.

CBS brought back the beloved sitcom last fall after more than a two decades off the air. Candice Bergen reprised her iconic role of Murphy Brown, a no-nonsense television reporter, in this confusing political climate. Unfortuantely, the revival failed to connect with audiences and/or provide the ratings previous revivals like Will & Grace and Roseanne brought in for other networks.

Murphy Brown wasn't the only CBS sitcom visited by the cancellation bear, though. Life in Pieceswas axed after four seasons while freshman comedies Happy Together and Fam were also given the boot. Happy Together was a scripted outing from Late Late Show with James Corden executive producer Ben Winston and was loosely based on the years One Direction star Harry Styles spent living in his attic. Fam was The Vampire Diaries alum Nina Dobrev's first series regular role after leaving the supernatural drama in 2015.

The cancellations come after CBS picked up Broke, starring Pauley Perrette and three other comedies, earlier this week.
