Mickey Rooney Granted Restraining Order Against Stepson
Mickey Rooney has been granted a restraining order against his stepson, The Associated Press reports. According to court documents, the veteran actor, who rose to stardom in the 1930s, is claiming that Chris Aber has been withholding food and medicine from him and meddling in his personal finances. Mickey Rooney has been granted a restraining order against his stepson, The Associated Press reports.
According to court documents, the veteran actor, who rose to stardom in the 1930s, is claiming that Chris Aber has been withholding food and medicine from him and meddling in his personal finances. Earlier this week, a Los Angeles Superior Court approved the order that requires Aber to stay 100 yards away from Rooney.
"Chris is verbally abusive toward Mickey," the court filing states. "He yells and screams at Mickey. He threatens, intimidates, bullies and harasses Mickey."
The 90-year-old Emmy winner, who was the nation's No. 1 box-office movie star from 1939 to '41, said in a statement: "All I want to do is live a peaceful life, to regain my life and be happy. I pray to God each day to protect us, help us endure, and guide those other senior citizens who are also suffering."
A hearing is set for Thursday, Feb. 24.
