Marvel's Runaways Season 2 Recap: Which Kid Is Possessed by an Alien?

We've got three theories...

Marvel's Runaways' second season gave us more answers than we ever expected it to, but it also left us with one very huge question: Which runaway is possessed by one of Jonah's (Julian McMahon) body-jumping, alien children?

Midway through the season, Stacey (Brigid Brannagh) and Dale (Kevin Weisman) used their newly developed compound to blow up Jonah's ship, which was trapped at the bottom of the hole he dug in the middle of Los Angeles. Everyone assumed that Jonah's alien family, which was trapped inside, perished in the explosion, but it turns out killing ancient aliens isn't always that easy. Over the course of the rest of the season, we slowly discovered that Jonah and his family survived by jumping into the nearest bodies available -- the parents and kids standing next to the blast.

So far, we know that Jonah is now slowly taking over Victor's (James Marsters) body, his wife is possessing Stacey, and his daughter -- who is a freaking treat by the way -- has jumped into Tina (Brittany Ishibashi). While they haven't taken over their hosts completely, they've been taking control more and more often. Enough to at least confer about where Jonah's son ended up since he obviously didn't jump into one of the other parents. They brilliantly deduced that he must have hitched a ride with one of the runaway kids -- but which one?

That's a mystery that will have to wait until Season 3, but we've got a couple ideas about who it could be.

It's probably safe to say that it's not Karolina (Virginia Gardner) or Chase (Gregg Sulkin), considering Jonah has both of them in custody, suspended in his healing tubes as "food" for future jumps. It's also hard to imagine that Gert (Ariela Barer) could be possessed, since it would undoubtedly have caused issues with Old Lace by now, given their telepathic connection.

That leaves Nico (Lyrica Okano), Alex (Rhenzy Feliz) and Molly (Allegra Acosta) as the three runaways hanging in the balance. Here's why each might be a good candidate.

Nico: The first and most likely candidate for possession is Nico. We cut directly to her following the scene that revealed Jonah's son must have jumped into one of the kids, which could indicate that she could be the one currently housing this new alien. She also has been acting a lot darker and more volatile since the incident with Jonah (she believed she'd killed him and actually did kill his host), but that could be explained by her growing witch powers. We're definitely keeping an eye on her though, especially because housing the spirit of Karolina's brother might make it super weird when they make out.

Alex: Given that all the other aliens jumped into bodies that match their own gender, Alex is a good candidate to host Karolina's brother, being the only boy left on the list who is not also currently chilling in a containment tube. We haven't yet seen any indication that Alex is possessed -- he's lost no time or exhibited any glowing tendencies -- but this storyline could be a great one for him next season if it turns out to be true.

Molly: While Molly's not a great candidate for possession (something tells us mixing super powers will not end well), we can't cross her off the list given that she's one of the three kids still on the run in L.A. and Jonah's family will be hunting her along with the rest of them. Molly's storyline also faded to the background a little in the second half of the season, if you don't count her beautiful Quinceañera episode. Could we have been paying less attention to her so as not to spot signs of possession?
