Thirty-four couples will tie the knot at the Grammy Awards during Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' performance, the New York Times reports.
The duo, along with Mary Lambert and Madonna, will perform their hit "Same Love," which advocates for marriage equality. The on-air nuptials during the performance will include couples who are "gay, straight, old, young, of many races and many colors," the Timesreports. One of the couples is Lewis' sister Laura and her boyfriend. Queen Latifah will officiate the weddings.
Grammy Awards: Who will take home the night's top prizes?
Producer Ken Ehrlich pitched the idea to Macklemore and Lewis last fall and began recruiting couples to take part in on-air marriages, according to the Times. All of the couples were required to sign confidentiality agreements.
Are you looking forward to seeing the weddings live? What do you think of the idea?
The Grammy Awards air live on CBS at 8/7c.
