Olympian Lindsey Vonn has decided against competing in Saturday's season-opening race in Austria so she can spend an additional month healing, according to The Associated Press.

Lindsey Vonn may recover in time for 2014 Winter Olympics

In February, Vonn crashed in the super G during the 2013 World Championships in Austria, injuring her right knee. She underwent major knee surgery and physical therapy in hopes of being able to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics that take place in February in Sochi, Russia.

Vonn will return to competing on Nov. 29 in Beaver Creek, Colo. "While I physically feel great, I have decided to not race this weekend and instead will focus on returning in Beaver Creek," Vonn said. "I am confident the extra month of training will ultimately put me in the best position to have a successful season."
