Olympic Champ Lindsey Vonn Owes $1.7 Million in Back Taxes

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn owes $1.7 million in delinquent federal taxes, the Detroit News reports.

The IRS filed a $1,705,437 tax lien against Vonn and her estranged husband, Thomas, on April 2 with Nevada's Elko County Recorder for 2010 — the year she won Olympic gold in downhill at the Vancouver Games.

Animal Kingdom Wins the Kentucky Derby

Animal Kingdom, who was 20-1 on the morning line, won the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.

Shackleford kept a commanding lead throughout the race, but Animal Kingdom, ridden by John Velazquez and trained by H. Motion, overtook his competitors on the homestretch to win the 137th Kentucky Derby. Velazquez, who was initially set to ride Uncle Mo before the horse was scratched, replaced jockey Robby Albarado after an injury. Shackleford only placed fourth.

The year since the Vancouver Olympics has flown by for U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn. After winning gold and bronze medals, she slowed down long enough to help crack a case on the Law & Order finale, accept two ESPY Awards and hit a hole-in-one at a golf event. Back on the slopes, she's again dueling her main rival, Germany's Maria Riesch, for the World Cup title. They'll face off at the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships, beginning Tuesday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany — which happens to be Riesch's hometown.
