Lily Tomlin and Partner of More than 40 Years Thinking of Getting Married

Lily Tomlin and her partner of more than 40 years, Jane Wagner, might finally be getting married, E! reports.  
"We're thinking maybe we'll get married," Tomlin said. "You don't really need to get married, but marriage is awfully nice. Everybody I know who got married, they say it really makes a difference. They feel very, very happy about it."

In June, the Supreme Court ruled against the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8, which secures federal benefits for gay married couples and cleared the way for same-sex marriages in California.

"You didn't think that would happen," Tomlin said. "It's pretty remarkable."

But don't expect Tomlin and Wagner to have a traditional wedding if they ultimately walk down the aisle. "No rings, no bridal dresses," she said. "Maybe we'll be dressed like chickens."
