Churchill served as prime minister of the U.K. from 1940 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1955. He died in 1965.

In 2011, Spacey told O Magazine that The Wicked Wit of Winston Churchill was one of his favorite books. "It's not often that we are presented with politicians who can turn humor on themselves and see the world in a witty way, even during very difficult times," the actor said.

Captain of the Gate will be produced by Sierra/Affinity, with Ben Kaplan writing. A director has not yet been named.

Do you think Spacey will be good in the role?
