After a year that saw her both win an Oscar for best actress and headline one of the biggest action films of 2013, Jennifer Lawrence ended her very good year on a high note.

The Hunger Games: Catching Firestar was named The Associated Press' Entertainer of the Year, narrowly beating headline-maker Miley Cyrus. (The vote was a 15-14 split.) Netflix, which broke into the zeitgeist in 2013 with House of Cards, the new season of Arrested Development and Orange Is the New Black, came in third with 13 votes. Breaking Bad ranked fourth, followed by Justin Timberlake at No. 5.

The best performances of 2013

Lawrence, 23, is "not only talented and beautiful, but comes off as incredibly intelligent, genuine, funny, and well-spoken in her public appearances and interviews," Kristi Runyan of The Derrick and The News-Herald newspapers, wrote. "It's refreshing to see a young woman not squandering her talent and success by succumbing to the temptations many do in Hollywood and who actively speaks about the ridiculous behavior of some of her peers."

Lawrence is already earning more awards acclaim for her role in American Hustle, which is in theaters now. Do you think the AP made the right choice?
