James Spader Will Play Ultron in Avengers Sequel

James Spader has been cast as the titular villain in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel announced Thursday.

As Ultron, Spader will play an evil robot who possesses powers including super strength, stamina and reflexes. Spader, whose TV credits include The Office andThe Practice, will hone his bad guy skills this fall on NBC's The Blacklist, on which he plays the world's most wanted criminal.

The highly-anticipated sequel to 2012's The Avengers is set to be released in summer 2015, with Whedon returning to write and direct.
