James Franco to Guest-Star on The Mindy Project

There's a new doctor in town!

James Franco will guest-star on the upcoming sophomore season of The Mindy Project for at least two episodes, Fox announced Tuesday.

Franco will play Dr. Paul Leotard, the replacement doctor for Mindy (Mindy Kaling) while she's in Haiti on a volunteer mission. A former professional model, Dr. Leotard was saved by a pregnant woman when he accidentally walked off a runway at fashion week. Following the incident, Leotard devoted his life to helping expectant mothers.

Franco, whose credits include 127 Hours, This Is the Endand Pineapple Express, will first appear in the season premiere of The Mindy Project, which airs Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 9:30/8:30c on Fox.
