In the wake of President Barack Obama's announcement that U.S. military forces had killed Osama bin Laden, Jack Bauer began trending on Twitter. Jokes about Kiefer Sutherland's 24 character's terror-busting credited him with the kill. Because, obviously, when something in the real world happens, we must turn to the fictional characters in our pop culture to congratulate them. They are the real heroes.
The hits kept coming when the unofficial Jack Bauer Twitter account acknowledged the trend. "Just got back from 'vacationing' in Abottabad..." he "tweeted" in reference to the Pakistani town, in which bin Laden was found and murdered.
Of course, given the aquatic nature of bin Laden's burial, the conversation soon turned to another fictional TV character. After all, burial at sea is so Dexter.
