HBO has ordered the limited series Big Little Lies, starring Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, Varietyreports.
David E. Kelley will write the adaptation of Liane Moriarty's darkly comedic novel about three mothers of kindergartners whose apparently perfect lives unravel to the point of murder. Kelley, Witherspoon and Kidman, who have been shopping the project since November, will all serve as executive producers as well.
Fresh off an Oscar nomination for Wild and the release of her buddy comedy Hot Pursuit with Sofia Vergara, could Big Little Lies signal Witherspoon's own McConaissance? We'll have to wait and see.
