Grey's Anatomy: Kelly McCreary Upped to Series Regular

Apparently Dr. Maggie Pierce will be sticking around Grey Sloan Memorial for now.

Actress Kelly McCreary has been promoted to a series regular on Grey's Anatomy, TVGuide.com has learned. Maggie — who's the daughter of Ellis Grey and Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) and half-sister to Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) — was introduced last season and McCreary has guest-starred in every episode of Season 11 thus far.

"She's come all the way across country, left her home and family whom she loves dearly, on this quest to find out about her mother," McCreary told TVGuide.com last month about her character. "The tension between having this really, really great family ... and still feeling like something's missing, like that's not quite enough, and being on this quest, that's what's really compelling to me about Maggie. That sort of dark underbelly of this person who seems to really have it all together."
