See who he's playing!

James Remar is heading to Gotham.

The veteran actor will play Frank Gordon, Jim Gordon's (Ben McKenzie) estranged uncle, TVGuide.com has learned. However, the family reunion may not be the happiest for our favorite Gotham City police detective.

Frank "is a master at playing both sides and a man who knows how to keep a secret," according to his official character description. Frank abandoned the Gordons shortly after Jim's father died in a car crash. It's been 25 years since he's last seen his nephew, but he's back in town to reconnect. There's a catch though. Frank returns with "a dark secret, one that will upset the very foundations of Jim's world and force him into a terrible choice between saving his family and saving his city."

Gotham: All is fair in love and mob warfare

It sounds like there's more fun for Jim ahead. He's already dealing with a supervillain with terrifying hypnotist powers, a boss that's gone homicidal after being poisoned by a young girl's blood, and watching his ex-fiancee marry someone else. If Jim Gordon had it easy, though, this wouldn't be Gotham.

Remar's previous credits include The Shannara Chronicles, Dexterand Grey's Anatomy. He can also currently be seen on CBS' Code Black.

What do you think of Remar's casting?

Gotham airs Mondays at 8/7c on Fox.
