Exclusive: Gotham Debuts Fan-Made Trailer

Citizens of Gotham, you are a strange bunch.

As part of the big push for their pre-Batman drama (debuting Sept. 22), Fox invited fans to recreate the show's movie-style trailer — originally mastered by the network's in-house video Van Gogh, Ari Margolis — using whatever methods they saw fit. And apparently some of you felt that plastic apples with faces drawn on them, football players and one unsettlingly decorated eggplant made for appropriate replacements for Ben McKenzie, Jada Pinkett Smith and company. The end result? Imagine the rise of the Penguin, via Wes Anderson's Instagram on tainted Red Bull. Fun, freaky and full of inventive ideas.

This isn't the first time fans have gotten into the trailer-remake business. Last season, Almost Human got the amateur treatment, but this is the first time Fox will actually air the fan-generated content. Next Thursday, during a repeat of Sleepy Hollow, this clip will make its national TV debut, so if you had a hand in this little gem, set your DVRs!
