After hemorrhaging viewership in its third season, TNT's HawthoRNe has been taken off of life support.
The network announced Friday that it will not renew the medical drama, starring Jada Pinkett Smith as the head nurse at a Richmond, Va., hospital. The third season, which ended on Aug. 16 with a cliff-hanger, drew 2.86 million viewers. Last season, the series averaged 3.6 million — low even then for a TNT drama.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are not splitting up, the couple said in a statement.
"Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false," the couple said in a statement Tuesday. "We are still together, and our marriage is intact."

Marc Anthony will reprise his guest-starring Hawthorne role as a series regular, TNT announced Monday.
The Grammy-winning singer played police Detective Nick Renata in two episodes last season. His newly expanded role in the medical drama comes as nurse Christina Hawthorne (Jada Pinkett Smith) struggles with the news she's pregnant by her on-again-off-again flame, Dr. Tom Wakefield (Michael Vartan).
